In 1999 verscheen op het ASV reissue-label een verzamelcd met 24 liedjes over roken uit de periode 1920-1947. De hoogtijdagen van de sigaret. Toen zelfs dokters reclame maakten voor roken en sigaretten. Rokende mensen komen in veel films voor en werden opvallend vaak ook afgebeeld op LP-hoezen. In de Osse bibliotheek hangen de komende weken als een soort eerbetoon én afsluiting van een periode een stuk of dertig hoezen waarop iemand aan het roken is.
ASV geeft veel cd’s uit met historische opnames. De reeks wordt gebracht onder de naam Living era. Muziek die liefhebbers van de fameuze tv-serie The singing detective en de zogenaamde crooners zal aanspreken. Muziek met een bepaalde galantheid. Romantische teksten. Songs die door broodschrijvers zijn gemaakt. Liedjes van o.a. Cole Porter, Gershwin of Rodgers & Hart evergreens zijn geworden.
De titel-track, Smoke Smoke Smoke that cigarette, is van ene Tex Williams. De opname is van maart 1947 en was in de Verenigde Staten een grote hit. In 1973 nam Commander Cody dit nummer ook op. Het is een ironische, humoristische tekst. Het refrein gaat als volgt:

That you hate to make him wait
